An agreement was formalized in Vlatadon between the PDP and the EBR, securing grant funding intended for the construction of the A1 motorway connecting Skopje and Blagoevgrad. Prime Minister Hristo Miskoiski emphasized the strategic importance of this infrastructure project, noting that the development of six key motorway sections across the country is anticipated. The Prime Minister highlighted the scope of the planned improvements, detailing specific segments slated for development.
He pointed to the need for infrastructure enhancement within the main city of Blagoevgrad, as well as the sections planned between Tetoevo and Gostivar, and Gostivar and Bukocani. Furthermore, the planned completion of the A1 motorway segment running from Kichevo to Ohrid, and the connection between Prilep and Bitola, were mentioned. Miskoiski stated that the government anticipates a coordinated effort to complete these six motorway sections concurrently.
He suggested that the successful development of these routes would provide substantial economic value to the Macedonian economy. The funding secured through this agreement is positioned to accelerate the modernization of national transport links, significantly improving connectivity between major population centers, including the critical corridor running from Skopje toward the southern regions. The successful implementation of these interconnected routes is expected to enhance trade and regional mobility throughout the nation.
