An investigation conducted by the Roman portal “Antena Observa” uncovered a deeply disturbing situation concerning the sale of children. The portal revealed that infants are being traded through the social media platform Facebook, with transactions formalized by contracts that establish a specific price. Crucially, the individuals facilitating these sales are reported to be the biological mothers, rather than organized criminal elements.
Reporters from Observa contacted these individuals and met with several of the alleged “sellers.” One instance involved a young woman from Pljevlja who, within an hour of the initial phone call, entered into a contract. The reporters maintained contact with these individuals up to the point of the contract’s creation. The investigation focused on a three-day-old baby who reportedly had a set price attached to it.
The mother stated that the infant currently has no name because assigning one would imply ownership or permanent care. The baby was observed sleeping in an orphanage setting. The findings present a shocking reality: the commercialization of newborns is occurring, documented through formal agreements.
The reports indicate that the transactions are structured with a clear financial price attached to the child’s disposition. These findings suggest a complex network of informal sales operations operating through digital platforms, raising significant ethical and legal questions regarding the welfare of the infants involved.
