Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the Committee on Foreign Relations of the US Senate regarding the situation. Rubio stated that a meeting involving unmanned drones was convened by the U.S. side in response to the recent incidents.
He confirmed that the operation’s primary objective was to address what he described as “illegally and unlawfully attacking commercial civilian air traffic” using these unmanned aerial vehicles. Specifically, Rubio indicated that any further attacks originating from the Ormuz Strait would be met with a forceful response. “The one you see in the broadcasts, including from the sky, is the next one,” he explained.
“If the bombing comes from Ormuz, they will be attacked.”
