“It is new, I believe, that the process is now gaining a new impetus in Europe,” said Stefan Corneliusz, the German ambassador’s deputy, today. He said that it is new that European countries are pushing it and continue the process of negotiations that so far mainly led to the G8 in Evian and the time of the European Council in Brussels. “We need the utmost support from our European partners to be able to truly strive for peace,” he said.
Corneliusz said it could take weeks or months to bring Putin to the negotiating table.
