PROVISION OF ELECTIONS, NOW THEY ARE STOLEN THE VOICES OF THE PEOPLE: Harsh Accusations from VMRO-DPMNE to SDS and Levica

VMRO-DPMNE has accused both SDS and Levica of obstructing the passage of a new electoral law, which the parties claim they have been discussing for several months with the aim of reaching a broad consensus. According to the ruling party’s statement, SDS is reportedly opposed to incorporating e-voting for the Macedonian diaspora, citing a perceived loss of trust among citizens both domestically and abroad. The statement further asserted that certain entities have undermined the process, suggesting, “You are those who have brought their policies to the aid of the citizens of the diaspora, and now they are blocking the introduction of the law together with SDS.”

In response, VMRO-DPMNE directed accusations toward Levica, stating that the party, alongside SDS, would block the law if the necessary conditions for negotiations were not met.

The ongoing dispute centers on the legislative changes required for the electoral process. The parties involved maintain that a consensus is necessary for the successful introduction of the new legislation. The political deadlock suggests significant disagreement over key components, such as the mechanisms for diaspora voting, which remains a central point of contention in the current political climate.

The focus now remains on whether these disagreements can be resolved to allow for the introduction of the law.
