Philipche Accuses Mickoski of Stalling Reforms, Threatening EU Prospects
Skopje – At a press conference today, Social Democratic Party (SDSM) leader Venko Philipche accused Internal Affairs Minister Goran Mickoski of actively hindering reformist initiatives and deliberately misleading the public. Philipche stated that Prime Minister Mickoski is impeding the country’s European perspective and failing to implement the agreed-upon reform agenda. The criticism centers around the progress – or lack thereof – on key legislation.
According to Philipche, of the 16 laws initially slated for passage by June 2025, only six have been adopted. Furthermore, of the ten laws extended to June 2026, only two have been enacted. “Implementation has reached only 20 percent, demonstrating that the Government lacks the capacity to deliver,” Philipche asserted.
He emphasized that the stalled progress jeopardizes the country’s alignment with European Union standards and the fulfillment of commitments made regarding judicial and administrative reforms. The SDSM leader’s comments follow a period of intense debate surrounding the government’s handling of legislative priorities and the timeline for achieving key reform goals. The focus remains on the urgency of adopting the necessary laws to secure continued European integration support.
