“Gorstadt” Parade Returns to Skopje for Eighth Year
The “Gorstadt” parade took place in Skopje on Saturday, marking its eighth annual event. The procession commenced at 19:00 hours from Fontana in City Park and concluded in Zen Park. The event, organized under the banner “Skopje 2026,” is a protest march advocating for human rights, equality, and the dignity of life.
Organizers highlighted the importance of visibility and solidarity through amplified announcements. This year’s iteration featured the slogan “Siječe se da znaju,” reflecting the LGBTQ+ community’s desire for increased recognition. According to Angel Dimitrijevski, the parade’s route this year involved a progression along several streets, beginning at Fontana Lotus and extending through the city.
The event aims to raise awareness regarding LGBTQ+ rights and promote a message of visibility and support. The “Gorstadt” parade has been an established tradition in Skopje since 1998, consistently taking place on Saturdays. It remains a significant demonstration within the city.
