The Ministry of Economy and Labor has mandated the collection of samples from both producers and distributors to facilitate a discussion regarding the established selling and purchasing prices for key commodities. During the fourth meeting of the Economic and Social Council, it was reported that inspections conducted by the State Market Inspectorate across 700 producers revealed notable shifts in market pricing. Specifically, data covering the period from May 2025 to May 2026 indicated that the average selling prices for major producers and hygiene products saw an increase of 2.66 percent.
Conversely, the selling prices recorded for purchasing activities rose by 4.56 percent. This disparity suggests a potential reduction in the portion of the low-selling prices attributed to primary producers and other vendors. The analysis points to an increase in the gross profit margin being realized by traders this year, particularly in relation to the final selling prices.
These findings underscore a need to review the current pricing structure across the supply chain, focusing on the relationship between initial producer costs and final consumer selling prices. The Ministry’s action aims to ensure transparency and stability in the market for producers and consumers alike.
