Opposition Party Criticizes SDSM’s Handling of Prespa Agreement Outcomes
Skopje – Christian Mitkoski, a prominent news anchor, has delivered a critical assessment of the opposition Social Democratic Party of Macedonia (SDSM), the party responsible for brokering the Prespa agreement. Mitkoski stated that the SDSM is now addressing issues stemming from the construction projects and related legislation initiated during their tenure. He argued that claims of significant benefits from the agreement – including free and quality healthcare, education, and opportunities for young people – are demonstrably false.
Mitkoski asserted that former European Union officials are not providing assurances of these outcomes. Specifically, he highlighted the failure to realize promises of NATO membership, noting that attempts to join the alliance are not anticipated to succeed. “Nothing from that happened,” Mitkoski stated.
“If we even try to join NATO, it will not happen.”
Mitkoski’s comments suggest a shift in Macedonia’s foreign policy, shaped by lessons learned from past rhetoric. He accused the government of employing tactics designed to mislead within the European Union. The SDSM’s handling of the Prespa agreement remains a central point of contention.
