OMD: Young people from the diaspora in the fatherland

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) recently marked the tenth anniversary of its Birthright Macedonia program in the village of Robevtsi, Ohrid. The event, held on June 27, 2026, focused on the re-engagement of young members of the diaspora with the national territory of North Macedonia. This milestone tenth edition brought together participants from various international locations, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and Germany.

The program is designed to immerse these young individuals in Macedonian life through a unique, three-week experience. During their stay, participants will engage in professional practice, cultural exchange, and educational activities. The initiative aims to foster a deeper connection between the global Macedonian community and their homeland.

The structure of the program provides practical opportunities for personal and professional growth while promoting cultural understanding. Organizers extended special recognition to the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCCS) for their support of the endeavor. The successful execution of this tenth iteration underscores the ongoing commitment of the diaspora to connecting its young members with Macedonia.

The OMD continues to facilitate these vital exchanges, solidifying the link between the international diaspora and the nation.
