Updates Announced Regarding Security Law and Violence Prevention Initiatives
Skopje – Several key developments were announced on June 18, 2026, at 14:30, including revisions to the national security law and a new national project focused on preventing sexual and violent crimes. The Ministry of Internal Affairs’ deputy chief of staff, Panče Todžkovski, will present “Preparing for the Cycle of Violence – Systematic Prevention of Sexual and Violent Crimes Prevention through the Image System.” This project aims to address insecurity within the country. The VU-DPMNE’s child protection group will be providing the rationale for amendments to the security law, citing recommendations from experts and Ministry staff.
Specifically, the prosecutor clarified that the law will address non-payment of rent, stating, “We are non going to use force against the sentenced person, but we will punish them for non-payment of rent.”
