NEW ENERGY AGE FOR MACEDONIA – Implemented the new Law on renewable sources

The adoption of the new Law on the use of energy from renewable sources represents a significant reform within the energy sector. According to the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Minerals Resources, this legislation reorganizes renewable energy sources to align with a modern, predictable legal framework for clean energy development, consistent with European standards. The Ministry outlined several key advantages stemming from the new law.

Chief among these benefits is the anticipated long-term reduction of national energy dependence and an enhancement of overall energy security. Furthermore, the legislation aims to decrease the Oil Industry’s (OIE) proportion in total final energy consumption. It is also designed to improve energy supply security across the entire energy supply chain.

Beyond these points, the new framework supports the diversification of energy production methods. By promoting varied sources, the law also intends to achieve a reduction in energy consumption at the end stages of the supply chain. These measures collectively signal a strategic shift toward a more sustainable and resilient energy future for the nation.
