New destinations during the air crisis: SKOPJE AND CHRISTIANOPOLIS ARE FLYING TO ITALY, POLAND AND AUSTRIA

North Macedonia Announces New Aviation Routes Amid Global Crisis

North Macedonia is taking a proactive approach to the ongoing global aviation challenges, announcing the opening of five new destinations in the coming weeks, according to Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski. The announcement, made on the “Rishtazi” news program, reflects a strategy to bolster tourism and connectivity. Several partnerships are driving this expansion.

Austrian airline ERLAIN will commence regular flights from Vienna to Ohrid, facilitating connections for summer travel and supporting tourism development. Visier Airlines will initiate routes from both Wroclaw and Krakow in Poland, anticipated to attract Polish tourists. Furthermore, North Macedonia will provide aviation fuel to both the Skopje and Nis airports.

This initiative aims to ensure operational continuity for these vital transportation hubs. Nikoloski highlighted that two existing summer routes – Palermo, Sicily, and Alghero, Sardinia – will continue to operate beyond the traditional summer season, contingent on future assessments. The government’s actions represent a commitment to supporting the aviation sector during this period of instability and opening new opportunities for travel and economic growth.
