New cases of sexual violence, 10 people deprived of freedom in more cities in the country

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that over the preceding 24-hour period, there was a decrease in the number of recorded cases of sexual violence within the country’s more urbanized regions. Conversely, authorities noted an increase in incidents involving physical attacks, threats, and aggressive confrontations concerning community members. Specific actions taken by law enforcement were documented across different locations.

On July 3, 2026, at approximately 17:45 a.m., Skopje Police Department officers intervened in the city center, leading to the detention of an individual identified as P.S. (47) from Skopje. This action followed an incident where the individual was reported to have attacked a 40-year-old partner at the center of Skopje.

The formal documentation for this case was submitted later on July 3, 2026, at 18:05 a.m. Furthermore, on July 4, 2026, at 01:40 a.m., an individual identified as A.A. (46) from Struga was detained by local authorities near “Crna Drim” street.

The detention was attributed to a prior incident involving the attack on the individual’s mother. According to the comprehensive documentation accompanying this matter, a separate formal summons will be issued. These reports highlight a shift in the nature of reported offenses, with law enforcement resources being directed toward managing physical altercations and threats, alongside the noted reduction in certain types of violent crime in metropolitan areas.

The Ministry continues to document these incidents to better understand community safety patterns.
