Macedonia Highlights Coexistence as a National Strength

Skopje – At the 14th Plenary Session of the Inter-governmental Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, held in Skopje, Minister of Internal Affairs and Foreign Trade, Tihomir Mutsunski, addressed the importance of unity and diversity within Macedonia. Mutsunski referenced the Skopje Declaration, stating its adoption underscores the necessity of building a national day of peace without division. He emphasized that Macedonia serves as a demonstrable example of how diverse ethnic, religious, and cultural identities can coexist harmoniously.

“Our land understands the harmfulness of coexistence,” Mutsunski explained. “We do not collect for differences as a theoretical concept; we live the differences.” He highlighted the country’s long history of diverse communities – encompassing various ethnic, religious, cultural, and historical identities – existing together for centuries. “These do not burden our society; they are its great wealth,” the minister concluded, reinforcing Macedonia’s commitment to fostering tolerance and recognizing the value of its multicultural landscape.

The session focused on promoting peace and understanding within the region, with the Minister emphasizing the nation’s role as a model for peaceful coexistence.
