Prime Minister Christian Mitskoski visited the Municipality of Saray recently to inspect the regulation project for the “Suva River” bed. During this visit, while addressing questions from journalists, Mitskoski also commented on the recent acquittal of his predecessor, Nikola Gruevski. Speaking about the legal proceedings, Mitskoski stated that he considered justice satisfied regarding matters pertaining to VMRO-DPMNE.
Regarding Gruevski’s release, Mitskoski attributed the outcome to the opposition parties, specifically SDSM and DUI. He cited their amendments to the Criminal Code in 2023 as key factors, noting that these changes permitted a faster statute of limitations for the crime of abuse of official position. The Prime Minister elaborated that these legislative changes had a direct impact.
The discussion about the talir case, in particular, prompted these remarks. Mitskoski maintained that the legal environment, as altered by the opposition’s actions, was central to the situation surrounding his predecessor. The visit, which focused on local infrastructure development, provided a platform for Mitskoski to address these national political issues alongside the project promotion.
