Minchev: Human rights are not declared, instead there is a daily review of the institutions

Ministry Launches Initiative to Enhance Human Rights Awareness Among Public Servants

The Ministry of Public Administration, in partnership with the “Support for the European Union in the field of human rights” project – funded by the European Union – has initiated a program to bolster understanding and application of human rights within administrative institutions. The initiative recognizes that human rights are fundamentally rooted in the everyday actions and interactions of public service providers. The cornerstone of this effort is a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Goran Minchev, Ambassador of the European Union, Michalis Ropakakis, and Barbara Ligl, representing the Ministry of Public Administration.

This collaboration aims to supplement the knowledge and capabilities of staff working with citizens. A key component of the program is a new online e-learning tool designed to provide comprehensive training on human rights. The tool will offer resources and support to administrative personnel, focusing on the impact of institutional practices and services on individuals’ lives.

The Ministry emphasizes that upholding human rights is not solely a matter of legal frameworks, strategic planning, or international agreements. Instead, it’s demonstrated through consistent, responsible treatment of citizens and the quality of services provided, alongside the consequences that directly affect individuals. This initiative seeks to ensure these principles are consistently applied within the public sector.

  1. “It’s encouraging to see the government prioritizing a systematic approach to human rights rather than simply stating them.”
