Skopje and Gostivar Middle Schools Initiate Report on Youth Violence and Protection
Skopje and Gostivar – Students from two middle schools, SGS “Josip Broz Tito” in Skopje and SOS “Gostivar” in Gostivar, are undertaking a project to address concerns regarding violence and student protection. The initiative, launched in the days leading up to a parliamentary session, focuses on identifying effective strategies for safeguarding children from various forms of harm. The students are tasked with compiling a report detailing the scope of violence experienced within schools, including instances of disruptive behavior, disrespect, and humiliation.
Specifically, they are examining the prevalence of “bullying” – often unreported – and exploring what measures should constitute the highest public priority for protecting young people. The project acknowledges growing calls for comprehensive protection against violence, particularly concerning incidents stemming from social dance theatre and other potentially volatile situations. Researchers aim to uncover the extent to which these issues are recognized and addressed within the school environment.
The report will analyze the daily experiences of students and highlight areas where increased vigilance and proactive intervention are needed. The goal is to contribute to a broader discussion on ensuring the safety and well-being of students. [Photo: MIA]
