Merkel has an official portrait: “It is unpopular to become a part of history”

A portrait exhibition is scheduled to take place at the “Bode” museum for a period of three months, commencing on Tuesday. The focus of the exhibition will feature the office of the joint chancellor, which will house the artwork. In an interview with “Die Zeit,” Angela Merkel offered a modest reflection on the experience.

She stated, “It is not a favorite when you become involved in the history.”

The exhibition will feature several notable portraits of German chancellors. Historically, the first time a portrait of a German chancellor was displayed in the chancellor’s office included Gerhard Schroeder, whose portrait was reportedly discovered by Juerg in 2007. Alongside the portrait of Angela Merkel, the portrait of Olaf Scholz is also included in the display.

Regarding the current leadership, the office has announced that no successor has been chosen at this time. The article also noted unrelated information, including a report about a fisherman surviving eight days alone at sea, and a mention of the three major saints being celebrated today. The core focus remains on the historical and contemporary display of the chancellor’s portrait.
