Health Commission to Examine Expert Opinions on Product Regulation Law
Brussels – The Health Commission held a session on Sunday to discuss consultations regarding the proposed law on protecting consumers from products originating from or related to tobacco or similar sectors. President Rasha Mizarich stated that the body will review expert opinions presented as part of the second reading process. The aim is to ensure the reform law aligns with existing European Union directives and avoids potential challenges to its approval.
Recognizing the need for efficiency and a focus on technical details rather than political considerations, the Commission intends to conduct further consultations with expert opinions specifically on the textual provisions of the EU directives. “Due to the nature of the opinions and the need for efficiency, we will seek consultations of expert opinions on the textual provisions of the EU directives, so that we can agree on the reform law with a European emblem,” Mizarich explained. The initial session was brief, but the Commission confirmed that further discussions and continued expert consultations are planned as part of the ongoing process.
The focus remains on achieving a legally sound and compliant regulatory framework.
