Macedonia has secured a substantial grant of 4.4 billion euros from the European Union (EU) earmarked for the nation’s health sector. According to the Minister of Health, Azir Aliu, the signing of the Health Treaty under the EU’s “EU4Health” program marks a major advancement for the Macedonian health system, bringing it closer to established European standards and policies. This comprehensive program unlocks numerous avenues for development within the country’s healthcare infrastructure.

Key areas of focus include digital health initiatives, preventative care, and the early detection of various diseases. Furthermore, the funding supports specialized programs in oncology, cardiovascular health, and mental health.
