Labudovik Advocates for Balkan Energy Corridor at Kosap Conference

Zemblje, June 6, 2026 – At the XXIII Conference on Parliamentary Committees for European Integration and European Issues (Kosap) held in Strugа, Macedonian Deputy Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Miroslav Labudovik, emphasized the critical need for the Balkan region to function as an energy corridor for Europe. The conference focused on energy security, accelerated green transitions, and regional connectivity. Addressing representatives from Southeastern European institutions and parliamentary bodies, Labudovik argued that energy security can no longer be viewed solely as a national concern.

He stressed the importance of a coordinated regional and European approach, requiring substantial investment and strengthened mutual integration. Labudovik’s remarks highlighted the urgency of developing interconnected energy infrastructure within the Balkans. The Kosap conference, a key forum for discussing European integration, provided a platform for exploring strategies to bolster energy security and promote sustainable development across the region.

The discussion centered on establishing the Balkan peninsula as a vital transportation route for energy resources, contributing to Europe’s overall energy mix. Further details regarding the laboratory research supporting these initiatives were not discussed at the conference.
