A kineski humanoid robot achieved a significant milestone on Saturday during the preliminary qualifications for the World Games for Humanoid Robots held in Beijing. The machine recorded a time of 9.39 seconds over the 100-meter dash, shattering the world record previously established by sprinter Usain Bolt. The machine, named Tiangong Ultra, was developed by the Beijing Center for Humanoid Robot Innovation.
Following initial placement by the organizers, the robot advanced to the opening of the second edition of the games. Its performance surpassed “Lightning,” a model created by the phone manufacturer Honor, which clocked a time of 9.47 seconds. The 9.39-second mark not only represents a substantial improvement but also beats Bolt’s record of 9.58 seconds, which was set during the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin.
This achievement marks a notable progression for the field, particularly in the rigorous competitive sets of the World Games.
