Israeli Ministry of Defense: We will remain in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, we told the Americans

Israeli Official Details Strategy for Safe Zones in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz stated that Israeli forces will maintain a continued presence within designated safe zones in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, without a predetermined expiration date. This arrangement is intended to safeguard border security and protect Israeli partners from extremist elements, according to Gantz’s remarks. Speaking in a closing statement, Gantz outlined the operational approach for these zones.

He confirmed that the areas will be cleared of local populations and that all identified terrorist infrastructure – encompassing both above and below-ground elements – will be systematically dismantled. This includes the destruction of buildings within border villages utilized as terrorist bases. “We will not threaten Israeli safe zones,” Gantz emphasized, framing the establishment of these zones as a significant achievement for the Israeli military during the ongoing conflict.

He further indicated that Israel is actively resisting external pressures and repercussions originating from Lebanon and surrounding regional influences. The decision regarding the safe zones is considered a key component of Israel’s strategy for maintaining security and countering threats within the designated areas.
