Iran and SAD agreed to stop attacks and renew talks

A senior American official stated that Iran and the United States have agreed to suspend unfriendly actions and resume discussions regarding the Ormuz Strait. The announcement suggests a potential shift in diplomatic relations, although the official also noted that hopes for an interim peace treaty have been dampened. According to the official, technical discussions are scheduled to continue across all areas covered by the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

He stated that both sides are currently progressing, and that previous barriers can be addressed. This refers to the 14-point MoU, which was established on June 17th and addresses the reopening considerations for the strait. The official, identified as “Axiom,” initially announced the suspension of unfriendly actions and subsequently made the statement regarding the resumption of talks.

He confirmed that discussions are set to continue on Tuesday. The agreement between Iran and the US signals a renewed focus on dialogue concerning the critical waterway. The continuation of these talks aims to implement the terms outlined in the MoU, suggesting a phased approach to resolving tensions surrounding the Ormuz Strait.
