Industrial production is down 2 percentage points year-on-year

Industrial production in North Macedonia has entered a negative trend once again, according to the latest monthly report from the Statistical Directorate. In May, the production experienced a decline of 2 percentage points. This decrease contrasts sharply with the performance observed in April, when production had increased by 7.6 percentage points.

The cumulative figure for the period from the start of the year to May remains unchanged. Specifically, industrial production for January through May showed a decrease of 0.3 percentage points in 2025. The available statistics reveal significant fluctuations within the domestic industry.

The year began with notable declines, recording a 6.6 percentage points drop in January, followed by a 4.2 percentage points decrease in February. These were followed by a 3 percentage points growth in March and a substantial 7.6 percentage points increase in April. However, the data indicates that May once again brought a contraction in production.

The primary driver for the May figures was the performance recorded in April, which saw a 7.6 percentage points rise. Overall, the data highlights considerable volatility in industrial output throughout the first five months of the year.
