The disposal of unpermitted waste constitutes a violation of the Law on Genuine Cleanliness, subject to financial penalties ranging from 40 euros up to 1,800 euros, depending on the classification and duration of the improper waste. In response, the inspection services of the Karpoš Municipality significantly increased their oversight of waste disposal practices during May and June. These intensified controls focused on waste deposited in containers managed by JPP “Communal Hygiene.” The proactive monitoring efforts resulted in the identification and documentation of approximately 30 instances of non-permitted waste disposal.
The Municipality stated that the subsequent taxation process was executed in adherence to guidelines established by the coordination committee involving the Municipality of Skopje and local municipal bodies. These enforcement actions were strategically concentrated in areas deemed critical within Karpoš. Inspectors conducted detailed checks at specific sites, including the “Macedonian House” located in the Kezman Josifovski Pitu settlement, near the final stop of the 24th public transport line.
The focus remains on ensuring that all waste management adheres strictly to established protocols. The enforcement measures aim to curb the dumping of non-permitted waste and promote responsible disposal methods, thereby reinforcing compliance with municipal cleanliness regulations.
