A significant fire impacted the Probištip region yesterday, affecting multiple areas including the villages of Neokazi, Bučište, and Ratavica. According to Milan Terzić, a commander with the Territorial Fire Brigade (TFPB), the large blaze was brought under control around 20:00 hours. Firefighting teams are currently assessing the full extent of the damage across the affected zone.
The incident resulted in substantial losses for local agricultural interests, damaging properties belonging to farmers, as well as areas dedicated to cereals, vines, and beekeeping. Initial reports provided as of July 4, 2026, at 12:38 hours, indicated that the fire was first contained at 11:00 in the village of Neokazi, where fields of wheat were burning. Despite the efforts of the TFPB teams, the severity of the blaze was compounded by environmental factors.
High winds and wet grass contributed to secondary damage, causing the tops of several trees to be blown down in the vicinity. The TFPB continues its work to survey the landscape and determine what remains of the affected properties and crops within the region. Authorities are managing the aftermath of the incident, ensuring that assessments are thorough for all affected farmers and the agricultural community.
