During efforts to combat a significant fire in Veles, an air-supply truck was utilized. According to reports, around 16:00, the air-supply truck, which contained 100,000 liters of air, was activated at the DZS facility. The incident, documented in available video footage, involved substantial emergency response coordination.
Later, at approximately 10:40, the air-supply truck reportedly exploded on the expressway connecting Veles and Shtip. This explosion occurred near the city depot, resulting in the burning of a large area spanning several meters. Firefighting operations were extensive, requiring the direct intervention of several teams from the Territorial Fire Brigade in Veles.
Support was provided by teams from JKP “Derven.” DZS Director Stojanche Angelov confirmed that the deployment and activation of the air-supply truck on the ground were coordinated in conjunction with the Central Emergency Management Agency. The event was reported on June 30, 2020. The activation of the specialized air support equipment was a key component of the overall emergency strategy implemented to manage the large-scale fire incident in Veles.
The coordination efforts between local fire services and central emergency bodies were highlighted following the incident.
