Lekovi has officially published an expanded positive list that now includes three new anticoagulants: enoxaparin, nadroparin, and rivaroxaban. These medications will soon be accessible to the public through pharmacies. This development is expected to generate substantial savings for state budgets, particularly given the high cost associated with these drugs, as they will now require minimal patient participation.

According to Sašo Klekovski, General Director of the Health Insurance Fund, the financial benefits are considerable. Previously, the first two drugs were acquired privately, involving out-of-pocket refunds ranging between 1,100 and 2,700 dinars. With the new listing, the cost for these medications will drop significantly, ranging from 160 to 240 dinars per individual, with one brand accounting for the total expense.

Furthermore, the third drug, rivaroxaban, has been added to the positive list. Its listed price is approximately 2,200 dinars, yet the patient participation fee is set at 160 dinars. These cost reductions are noted as significant, especially considering the current elevated cost structure for the production of these essential medicines.

The inclusion of these three drugs aims to improve patient access while simultaneously mitigating financial strain on the healthcare system by limiting the required out-of-pocket contribution to only minimal amounts.
