Macedonia Reports Mortality Data, Highlighting Female Longevity
A recent mortality report released by the State Statistics Institute in Macedonia reveals a notable disparity in life expectancy between men and women. According to the data published on June 19, 2026, women in Macedonia live an average of 4.4 years longer than men. The report indicates an average age at death of 72.2 years for all deceased, with women averaging 76.6 years and men averaging 71.8 years.
This difference of 4.4 years underscores a consistent trend in the country’s mortality statistics. In 2025, a total of 20,287 people died, representing a 0.4% increase compared to the 20,24 figures. Of those deaths, 10,498 were men and 9,789 were women.
Monthly death rates exhibited seasonal patterns, with January recording the highest number of deaths (2,002) and April recording the lowest (1,506). The Ministry of Health and Social Care is actively researching the leading cause of death and subsequent disability – circulatory system diseases. The data continues to highlight the differences in longevity between women and men within Macedonia.
