HRVATSKA DOES NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR 80,000 FOREIGN WORKERS FOR BUILDING, TOURISM, INDUSTRY…

The Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HCS) recently hosted a seminar detailing the updated regulations governing the employment of foreign workers. The event drew significant attendance, with 140 representatives from more than 75 companies, institutions, and employment agencies participating. The seminar addressed multiple evolving legal frameworks affecting labor mobility.

Specifically, new regulations concerning the stay of state employees in third countries have been in effect since April of this year. Furthermore, substantial revisions to the Law on Foreigners are scheduled to take effect in June. These comprehensive changes introduce numerous updates related to the issuance and continuation of permits required for both employment and general work authorization for foreign nationals.

The revisions mandate adjustments to how workers are employed, covering various aspects of the employment relationship. The new rules establish clear guidelines for the employment of foreign workers in several specific areas. These include protocols for situations involving the simultaneous employment of multiple foreign workers, procedures for electronic communication with governmental institutions, and the structured implementation of integration measures.

Notably, the updated guidelines incorporate specific employment rules for foreign nationals who are currently unemployed and undergoing language acquisition in Croatian. These developments aim to streamline compliance and better integrate foreign workers into the Croatian labor market.
