“GOOD BYE, WE WILL BE PROTECTED!” – The transport workers massively showed up on Monday due to the 90/180 rule

The Association Makam-trans has organized a protest targeting the 90/180 day rule within the Schengen zone, arguing that the regulation presents significant difficulties for professional truck drivers. The demonstration is scheduled for Monday, August 31, from 12:00 to 14:00, and will take place in front of the Delegation of the European Union in Skopje. The association has called upon all drivers, including regular employees, truck drivers, and VIP members, to participate in the protest.

According to the association, the primary objective is to bring a specific issue to the attention of European institutions. They contend that a solution must be developed for professional truck drivers that adequately accounts for the unique demands and specificities of their profession. In their call to action, the Association emphasized the necessity of collective action, stating, “We are calling for unity.

Only united can we be heard.” The protest aims to pressure policymakers into revising the current regulations to better accommodate the operational realities faced by the transport sector. The organizers are seeking a tangible resolution that acknowledges the specific working conditions of cross-border drivers.
