Investigation Continues into Alleged Data Sharing with Criminals
The Special Operations Unit (SOK) is continuing its investigation into individuals suspected of providing identifying information linked to serious criminal activity. The focus of the inquiry centers on twelve individuals, including retired police officers, who are under suspicion of facilitating the dissemination of data pertaining to Croatian nationals previously listed on the Red Interpol database for serious offenses. The investigation, initiated following an internal control review, targets individuals connected to Ruma and Novi Sad.
Specifically, a suspect, S.A. (46) from Novi sad, is being questioned regarding alleged collusion between the Croatian nationals and a retired police officer. This officer is suspected of accessing personal data related to individuals lacking biometric identification documents and subsequently delivering this information to the suspects.
Authorities allege that this data was misused, enabling the individuals on the Interpol list to commit crimes. The investigation is ongoing, with the goal of establishing a direct link between the suspects and the criminal activities. The focus remains on disrupting the flow of sensitive information and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
