Ministry of Culture and Tourism Issues Strategic Alert for Cultural Heritage Protection

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced a comprehensive strategic alert for the next decade, focusing on the operations of the Cultural Heritage Protection Authority (KHAN). This initiative, formalized with a June 22, 2026, announcement shared across platforms including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and email, aims to bolster the long-term protection of cultural heritage. Significant progress has been made in recent years, including the issuance of numerous permits for archaeological and inspection activities.

Over 15,000 documents have been digitized as part of this effort. The foundation for the new strategy is the 2025 document produced by KHAN, which provides a detailed analysis of activities concerning the safeguarding, enhancement, and management of the state’s cultural assets. The newly drafted National Strategy for the Protection of Cultural Heritage for the period 2026-2030 builds directly upon this existing framework.

It represents a commitment to sustained investment and coordinated action in ensuring the preservation of valuable historical and heritage sites. The Ministry anticipates this strategy will significantly contribute to the ongoing efforts of KHAN.
