France banned alcohol at a music festival due to heatwave

France to Ban Alcohol Sales During “Fête de la Musique” Amid Heatwave

France will implement a temporary ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol on public streets during the annual “Fête de la Musique” celebrations, according to reports. The move, announced by the government, is being taken due to the ongoing heatwave impacting much of the country. “Fête de la Musique,” a nationwide event attracting millions of attendees, is typically held across France.

However, with one-third of the planet currently under heatwave warnings and temperatures potentially reaching 41°C (106°F) in certain areas, authorities are urging caution regarding public alcohol consumption. The Office of Sebastian Lecornu confirmed that the prohibition applies to all government-organized and agency-led events. This includes a ban on advertising alcohol.

Weekend temperatures are forecast to peak at 39-40°C (102-104°F), with further increases expected on Monday. The government is appealing to the public to prioritize safety and adhere to guidelines during this period. The decision reflects broader efforts to minimize risks associated with extreme heat conditions across france.
