Work commenced ten days ago on the construction of the tunnel beneath the “Limaq” in Skopje, marking the city’s first underground facility, Mayor Gorjievski announced during a press conference. Following the collection of various project proposals, Gorjievski confirmed the planned construction of the General Michael Apostolski bridge. Furthermore, he stated that work is actively underway to adapt existing infrastructure lines for this major city project.

Gorjievski described the bridge initiative as both symbolic and successful for the city. Addressing the timeline for the bridge assembly, he acknowledged the presence of ongoing judicial processes. He clarified that some legal procedures are independent of his administration’s involvement, noting that his tenure will conclude functionally.

However, he assured that the expropriation matters linked to the project will be resolved. The commencement of the tunnel construction marks a significant infrastructure development for Skopje. The overall scope of the project involves substantial urban adaptation efforts across the city, aiming to improve connectivity and modernize the infrastructure.

These developments represent a concerted effort to advance key urban development goals for Skopje.
