Electronic voting in the diaspora is anti-democratic, it is a joke with the SDSM

The leader of the SDSM, Veno Filipce, has stated that his party intends to block the adoption of proposed amendments to the Electoral Law. SDSM leadership argues that the suggested revisions fail to meet established democratic and European standards and contain provisions that could facilitate abuse. A central point of contention raised by SDSM involves the proposal for implementing electronic voting specifically for the diaspora community.

According to Filipce, the current design of this system lacks sufficient mechanisms to adequately verify the identity of the voters. This deficiency, he argues, creates a significant risk of uncontrolled ballot casting and potential election manipulation. Filipce elaborated on the vulnerability, stating that the initial proposal for electronic voting for expatriates raises serious concerns regarding verification protocols.

He questioned the process of confirming voter locations and the identity of those casting ballots. He asserted that the ability to cast a vote digitally, without robust verification, carries a risk equivalent to casting a vote through unverified means. The SDSM’s stance suggests a fundamental disagreement with the current legislative trajectory, advocating for electoral reforms that prioritize stringent identity verification and uphold international democratic benchmarks.

The party’s opposition signals a potential legislative impasse regarding the final passage of the revised electoral framework.
