Albanian Government Addresses Ongoing DUI Concerns Regarding Law Execution

Tirana – The Albanian government is responding to persistent criticisms regarding the execution of key legislation, specifically concerning the integration of Albanians into the public sector. Following concerns raised by Velen Velen, the government asserted a legal solution is now in place to address what they describe as a long-standing issue. On June 5th, 2026, Minister Shaban Ayllajebi announced a formal approach to ensuring the proper execution of the law.

He stated that the issue had remained unresolved for 25 years under the Ohrid Framework Agreement. Velen Velen previously accused the Democratic Union of Integration (DUI) of failing to deliver on the proper and timely execution of the law. The Minister’s announcement suggests a shift away from political maneuvering, stating that the integration of Albanians into the public sector will no longer be subject to partisan debate.

“The proper execution of the law and the integration of Albanians in the public sector will no longer be a subject of political bargaining or party rivalry, this is the legal solution,” Ayllajebi declared at a press conference. The government is framing this as a definitive step towards resolving a complex and historically contentious area of Albanian legal and political development.
