Dimitrieska-Kochoska: We direct the money to projects that bring the greatest benefit

During a report detailing achievements over the past two years, Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska outlined the strategy for funding the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) in the first quarter of 2026. She stated that funds will be strategically directed toward projects anticipated to yield the greatest benefit to the ESM. According to the Minister, the ESM is projected to account for 58.9% of the BDP in Q1 2026.

Dimitrieska-Kochoska noted that this figure represents a deviation from the funding approach utilized under previous mandates and their corresponding projections. She clarified that this adjustment in funding methodology does not equate to creating a deficit for taxpayers. Instead, she asserted that the shift is designed to generate necessary space for investments that are expected to foster new economic growth.

Separately, Minister Kochoska expressed satisfaction with the current status of tax payments and the evolving global minimum tax framework. She also provided a specific deadline concerning tax remittances, noting that the payment deadline was set for July 2, 2026, at 2:29 pm. The report provided a comprehensive overview of the current fiscal outlook and the government’s targeted investment strategy for the upcoming fiscal period.
