Montenegro Nears EU Accession with Key Negotiations Completed

Podgorica, Montenegro – Prime Minister designate Milojko Spajic announced the completion of two key chapters in Montenegro’s negotiations for European Union membership. The progress brings the country closer to achieving its goal of finalizing the accession process by the end of this year. Spajic, leader of the Europe Now party, formed a coalition government following snap parliamentary elections in June 2023.

He has since outlined his proposed ministerial candidates. The negotiations, considered ambitious for Montenegro, are a significant step toward integration with the European Union. While details of the finalized chapters remain under wraps, the completion of these two phases represents a crucial advancement in the country’s path toward EU membership.

The announcement follows ongoing discussions with Luxembourg representatives, concluding the final stages of the accession process. Montenegro’s Prime Minister designate, Milojko Spajic, was present at a parliamentary session in Podgorica on October 30th, 2023, where he made the announcement.
