Borissov Praises European Parliament’s Stance on ‘Macedonia’ Message
Sofia, Bulgaria – Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov has issued a statement congratulating the European Parliament on its adopted message for North Macedonia for 2025. The European Parliament’s decision underscores the importance of respecting agreements between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, according to Borisov. The Prime Minister highlighted that the European Parliament’s stance clearly rejects the use of insulting language directed towards North Macedonia, specifically concerning alleged circumvention of existing agreements.
He stated that the decision confirms a broader demand that abuse of European rules and agreements will not be tolerated. “With his voice, the Eurocrats from both groups clearly stated that they want to know that the abuse of European rules and agreements should not be tolerated,” Borisov commented on Facebook. Borisov further noted that his GERB party played a key role in restoring the European perspective for North Macedonia following the signing of the Treaty on friendship and partnership in 2017.
The statement emphasizes the continued importance of upholding established agreements within the European framework regarding the future of ‘macedonia’. The message from the European Parliament reaffirms the need for respectful dialogue and adherence to established legal and political processes.
