Police authorities have issued a citation to a vehicle originating from Tetovo after the driver was recorded operating the car at an excessive speed on the Gostivar-Tetovo highway. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred yesterday around 18:00 hours. Officers from the Mobile Unit utilized specialized equipment, including a “precursor” device, to measure the vehicle’s speed.

The measurement indicated the car was traveling at 177 kilometers per hour, significantly exceeding the posted limits. The driver involved, identified as 47-year-old K.B. of Tetovo, was operating a Škoda vehicle registered in Tetovo.

Following the stop, the individual was taken into custody by the authorities. The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that the driver will face prosecution and a fine under Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of North Macedonia, which pertains to violations concerning motor vehicles. The enforcement action was taken due to the dangerous manner in which the vehicle was being operated.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to maintain road safety standards. The measured speed proved to be the primary factor leading to the legal action taken against the driver. Authorities emphasized that maintaining appropriate speed and adhering to traffic regulations are mandatory requirements for all drivers utilizing public roadways, particularly on major arteries connecting areas like Tetovo.
