In order to establish friendships when you grow up, you need to put in considerable effort. According to the Psychology Today magazine, the habit that would most likely destroy friendships in adulthood is a lack of reciprocity: a slow, gradual dynamic in which one person gives and the other takes. Every friendship goes through periods of ups and downs.

If one person is left without work, they go through a rough patch, and the other person accelerates the load. This is what friends do for each other. The problem arises when one person is always under the impression that the other is doing something wrong, and the other person accelerates the load.
