Food and Veterinary Agency (AHV) Identifies Instances of Manipulation at Milk Producers’ Control Points
The Food and Veterinary Agency (AHV) has identified instances of manipulation concerning the declared percentages of milk and milk products at processing plants. An investigation was undertaken following concerns about accuracy within the sector. As part of the review, 45 samples of milk and milk products were collected from farms and subsequently subjected to laboratory analysis.
The investigation revealed that 10 operators were found to be in non-compliance with the requirements of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for agricultural producers. Specifically, testing indicated discrepancies in the reported milk fat content. One operator, during a laboratory analysis of 22 kilograms of fine cheese, reported a milk fat percentage of 20 percent, while the actual production yielded only 1 percent.
This suggests deliberate manipulation of declared figures. The AHV continues to monitor milk producers and implement measures to ensure adherence to regulatory standards. The agency emphasizes the importance of accurate reporting to maintain consumer confidence and uphold food safety protocols.
