Registry of E-Traders Launched in Macedonia to Enhance Online Transactions
The Association for E-Commerce in Macedonia (AETM) has released a new edition of its Registry of E-Traders, effective June 19, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. This initiative aims to provide Macedonian citizens with a readily accessible resource for verifying the legitimacy of online sellers and ensuring secure completion of their online payments. The registry, a comprehensive database of active e-merchants operating within Macedonia, currently lists 1,374 businesses.
It is the sole official record maintained by the country’s five major banks, which process card-based transactions for these online retailers. Data from the National Bank of Macedonia indicates that in 2025, there were 1,829 locations facilitating e-commerce sales. Of these, 1,396 were identified as active, signifying at least one transaction was processed during the year.
The AETM emphasizes the registry’s role in bolstering consumer confidence and promoting transparency within the growing online marketplace in Macedonia. The resource is intended to streamline the process for citizens seeking to engage in secure online commerce.
