During the annual report presentation on the work of the prosecution before the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, Islam Abazy, head of the OJOKK, provided an update on the investigative workload. The presentation, held on July 2, 2026, detailed the status of various criminal matters. Abazy reported that, as of the end of 2025, only 16 percent of the total submitted criminal cases remain unresolved.
This figure represents the percentage of cases that have not yet reached final resolution. Regarding the broader efforts to combat organized crime and corruption, Abazy clarified the scope of the prosecution’s mandate. He stated that the primary responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of these complex crimes lies with various external bodies.
The prosecution, he noted, is currently awaiting input or responses from these other agencies before proceeding with certain investigations. Furthermore, Abazy addressed recent media reports concerning the prosecution’s actions. He refuted claims suggesting that the office issues direct orders or commands to external institutions, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Police Department, or banks.
Instead, he emphasized that the prosecution’s role is focused on its investigative and legal processes, differentiating its function from direct operational directives given to other governmental or financial bodies.
