PIO and Austria Sign Agreement to Enhance Pension Insurance Cooperation

Skopje – On June 15, 2026, at 12:11 pm, the Pension Insurance Fund (PIO) of North Macedonia signed a new agreement with Austrian institutions to strengthen cooperation in the area of pensions and disability insurance. The treaty facilitates regular data exchange and the submission of death notifications between key insurance organizations. The agreement connects the Fund of PIO, led by Nikola Mehov, with Austrian pensions insurance institutions, including the Austrian insolvency institutions.

It also establishes a formal link with the Social Insurance Service for Performers (SVS) and the Institution for Insurance of Employed in Public Services, Railways, and Mining Industry (BVAEB). According to a PIO announcement, the treaty represents a significant step in collaborative efforts. “This Treaty is a significant step in our cooperation and will enable us to proceed with our work,” stated Nikola Mehov.

The purpose of the agreement is to improve the coordination of pensions insurance services between North Macedonia and Austria, ensuring efficient management and notification processes. This enhanced cooperation will contribute to the reliable administration of pensions and disability insurance benefits.
