MAVROVO DOMAČIN NA SVETSKO PRVENSTVO VO RIBOLOV: The fishing season is getting stronger

The National Park “Mavrovo” has issued a directive banning all forms of recreational and sport fishing within Lake Mavrovo. This measure has been implemented following the scheduling of the World Fishing Championship, an officially recognized, high-level event organized under the auspices of FIPSed. The prohibition on fishing activities, as well as the use of associated fishing equipment, will take effect on August 26 and remain in place through September 7, 2026.

This timeline coincides directly with the duration of the championship event. Park authorities stated that the primary objective of the ban is the comprehensive protection of the fish stocks designated for the competition. To ensure the integrity of this international event, the restrictions are broad.

They encompass not only recreational and sporting fishing but also prohibit the operation of all fishing boats on the lake. Crucially, the ban is not absolute. Exceptions have been made for essential services.

Personnel from the police force, rescue services, and other relevant governmental institutions are exempt from these restrictions, provided their presence or equipment use is deemed necessary for maintaining public safety and order within the area. These regulations are designed to balance the needs of a major international sporting event with the conservation efforts mandated for the natural environment of Mavrovo.
