PLAMENI SE SHIRAT NIS SRBIJA: 29 active fires, Europe and Russia joined in the extinguishing process

Serbia is currently contending with a significant threat from numerous fires, with 29 active incidents reported across open ground areas. To date in August alone, a total of 3,926 fires have been recorded. The efforts to combat these blazes have mobilized all available resources, including assistance from international fire brigades.

Several areas are experiencing particularly intense fire activity, notably in the Stolitov mountain, near Vranje, and Zlatibor. Nedeljko Gagic, the head of the firefighting unit within the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reported that the fire near the Čiker village in Stolitov mountain has not yet been fully contained, although strong winds have helped to slow its progression. The response effort at the scene involves approximately 55 personnel.

These teams include firefighters from various locations such as Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Prijepolje, Uzhice, and Čačak, alongside volunteer firefighting units from Kraljevo and Boguća. Authorities have stated that there is currently no danger to nearby structures. The extinguishing operations are expected to continue through the night and into the following day to manage the active fires.
